I use a gorgeous figured chunk of black walnut to make a pepper grinder as my first project on my new lathe. This was an interesting project for me to start out with because it was a little more complicated than most of the things I have done on a lathe. With all the specific sizes and measurements, I had to take my time to be sure I was really getting things right. I think it turned out pretty well for a first attempt. I have made a few more pepper grinders sine this one and each time I’ve learned something that makes the end result better. This one now lives in my Moms kitchen, along with many of my other prototype projects. She doesn’t mind being my guinea pig.
